Guidance

‘Slicing the pie’ is a methodical approach used when entering or clearing a room or space, especially when there’s a potential threat inside.

It involves systematically exposing only a small portion of your person, whilst maintaining cover and minimizing exposure to potential threats.

Technique

To slice the pie, a person approaches a corner or doorway from a position of cover.

They then use small, controlled movements to incrementally reveal more of the room, essentially “slicing” it into sections.

This allows them to assess potential threats and engage them if necessary while minimizing their own vulnerability.
